Problem
Existing constituency-mail templates were lengthy and demanding to prepare, requiring substantial writing, proofreading, and staff time. As a result, many MPs underused a valuable communications channel, making it harder to share timely updates with constituents.
Strategy
I simplified the format around concise, postcard-style mailers that were practical to produce within approved parliamentary print specifications. The system was built for bilingual communication and could also be shared online, extending each message beyond the physical mail-out.
My Leadership
I led the design, template development, and production approach for the project. Working alongside two writers, I shaped the system so that clear, effective content could fit naturally within the compact bilingual format.
Creative Work
I reworked the existing three-panel C-fold into a Z-fold format. Opened from one side, it presented the English content in a natural reading flow; flipped over, it revealed the French version. This created a compact, intuitive bilingual mailer without duplicating the format. I developed five flexible templates, each aligned to that year’s budget themes, and packaged them to demonstrate their range and ease of use.
Result
The new template system achieved a 98% adoption rate among Liberal MPs, giving them a faster, more accessible way to communicate with constituents.
